Written Communications

Welcome to Written Communications online! This letter confirms your registration for the Spring 2008 semester.

What materials will I need?

Each registered participant will need a copy of Patterns Plus, Rule for Writers. The textbook is available for you at the Nicolet Bookstore in the Learning Resource Center or online at: http://www.nicoletbookstore.com/ .

How do I access the online course?

Written Communications is being delivered using the Blackboard online platform. You will be able to log into the course beginning on Tuesday, January 22, 2008.

To Login:

• Go to: http://natcbb72.nicoletcollege.edu
• After you access the Blackboard sign-on screen, click on the Login link.
• Enter your Username (your 9 digit student ID number which is located on your admissions slip or your student ID Card) and your password (Also your student ID number) and select "login".
• Please change your password after you have logged in by navigating to "Tools", "Personal Information", "Change Password" on the left side of your screen. Make sure to remember your changed password.
• You will see the course(s) you are enrolled in on the right side of your screen.
• Select the course link of the course you would like to enter. On the next page you will see the course title and links to the different content areas of your course.

What should I do first?

When you access the course, always check for announcements from your instructor or the Blackboard Administrator then select the Syllabus button on the left side of your screen. Open and read the Syllabus information provided . You may want to print these documents and save them for future reference.

Next, select the Course Documents button on the left side of your screen. Look through all activities in this area to become familiar with the online course environment.

If you are a first time Blackboard user, I strongly encourage you to attend one of the following Blackboard orientation sessions as it will save all of us many computer-related headaches:

• Friday, January 18, 9:00-11:00 a.m., Rhinelander, Campus, LRC Lab
• Tuesday, January 22, 11:00-1:00 p.m., Rhinelander Campus, LRC Lab
