2) Submit $30.00 non refundable application fee
3) Provide official copy of high school transcript or General Education Diploma (GED) High School Equivalency Diploma (HSED)
4) If applicable, official copy of transcripts from any previous colleges, sent directly to Nicolet’s Admissions Department
5) Complete Admissions Interview
6) Complete ACCUPLACER entrance examination

*Students must meet or exceed the above scores to be considered “program ready.” Any student not meeting the above scores will be required to remediate through Nicolet’s Basic Education Department prior to program enrollment.

Students are admitted into the Welding program in the fall and spring terms. Program students are required to earn a “C” or better in all core courses to progress on to the next semester program courses. A cumulative GPA of 2.0 (minimum is required for graduation.

How long is the program? Do I have to go in the summer?
The Welding program is one year (2 semesters) in length. You typically do not have to attend any summer classes.
Are there jobs for welders?
Yes. There are numerous area employers that hire welders, additionally, the outlook is healthy on a statewide and national level.
What kind of pay can I expect?
According to 2005 labor statistics (O-Net), the mean national wage for welders was $14.81 per hour, compared to $15.96 for welders in Wisconsin.
Why do I have to take an English and math course?
These general education classes are necessary to earn our Welding Diploma. Math and writing ability have been proven to be extremely important in the welding fields, not only in the performance of day to day welding activities, but also in preparing for pre-employment testing.
Can I start the program in the spring?
Yes. The Welding program is one of the few programs offered by Nicolet College that has spring and fall start dates.
Do I need to buy any special tools or equipment?
No. All tools and equipment are supplied by the college.
